Tetsoma Tonwe MD

Tete Tonwe, MD was born and raised in Delaware. Her father, Tutse Tonwe, a family medicine resident at the time, delivered her. When her mother rolled into the hospital in labor, and the attending physician was stuck in a blizzard, her father rose to the occasion—as family physicians typically do.

She grew up working at Family Health of Delaware, which started as an attachment to her family’s home in Little Creek, DE. As a child, she saw the magic of enduring relationships in medicine in the way her father would always take his time with his patients.

Dr. Tonwe went to University of Delaware, where she majored in English. This is where she met the love of her life, Timothy Petrie. She fell in love with his words at a poetry workshop. Now he’s the “Pop” of this “Mom & Pop” operation.

She earned an M.S in interdisciplinary health science at Drexel College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Medical Doctorate at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio then completed her family medicine residency at Grant Medical Center in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

Shortly after residency, Dr. Tonwe Senior suffered a stroke. It was now her turn to rise to the occasion— to help cover the thousands of patients under her father’s care.

Her professional interests include Comprehensive ADHD Care, addiction medicine, reproductive justice, LGBT issues, education, mindfulness, the arts in medicine.

Her personal interests include piano, crochet, reading entirely too much fantasy romance, writing, mixed media art projects, making music mashups, yoga, and binge watching animated tv shows. She has 3 cats: Odin, Loki & Thor

Bridget “Birdy” McGinnis is a lifelong Delawarean who is entering to the medical field after starting a family 15 years ago. As a developmental editor of prose and creative non-fiction, their job was to tease stories out of various creators.
